As is usual for us it’s a bit of an epic tale that will surely resonate with the insane events going on in the world, which is ironic considering the lyrics are almost 30 years old! They were originally written by Bob along with his brother Pat Ross who was drummer for the band they were in at the time. There’s even an interesting déjà-vu moment at one point in the song when Jenn sings the line “Giant castles out of bloodstained sand from Hastings to Afghanistan”…when the song was written the Russians were in Afghanistan and the Mujaheddin were trying to drive them out. Plus ça change…
